LAMDA

What is LAMDA?

London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art - one of the top three drama schools in the world, offering their own drama exams anywhere in the country for anyone who wants to take them. (aged 4/5 and up).

The Young Actors Company provide the 'verse and prose' exams and 'acting' exams.

Verse and prose - reciting a poem and a piece of prose.

Acting - performing either one or two or three monologues.

What you can learn from doing a LAMDA exam?

Lamda's examinations provide the opportunity to develop a clear speaking voice, positive body language and self-confidence. Line learning with some theory thrown in make up the basic requirements of each exam, but so much more is learnt including -

  • Presenting yourself in a professional way

  • Conversing skills (and therefore good interview and audition skills)

  • Monologues for drama school auditions

  • Managing nerves

  • UCAS point

Nothing will get you further in life than good communication. LAMDA can start this ball rolling, and, over time, help to create a more confident person.
